East Street

East Street runs from the eastern end of the High Street towards the junction with Gosport Road. It carries more traffic than the pedestrianised High Street and has a mixed character, with retail units giving way to residential properties and service businesses as you move east. Several takeaways and smaller shops line the street. The eastern end connects to the routes heading towards Cams Hill and the A27. East Street does not have the footfall of the High Street but provides useful secondary retail and food outlets. There are some attractive older buildings near the High Street end, including former shops with period detailing above the modern shopfronts. Bus routes pass along the street, connecting the town centre to the eastern suburbs.
